In the public examples below, a small visit starts around $60, while recurring plans and larger or reef systems reach several hundred dollars per month. Those are examples—not a national average. A useful quote must describe the aquarium and what each visit includes.

What changes the price?
Aquarium and livestock
Gallons, access, freshwater versus reef, stocking, plants, coral, and the system’s current condition.
Visit frequency
Weekly, biweekly, monthly, and one-time work can be priced very differently.
Included work
Testing, water changes, glass, filtration, algae, dosing, livestock checks, and equipment troubleshooting.
Supplies and travel
Prepared saltwater, media, replacement parts, livestock, parking, and distance may be separate charges.
Ask for a quote you can understand
- Describe the aquarium size, freshwater or saltwater setup, livestock, and current condition.
- Ask what is included in the visit and what is billed separately.
- Confirm the recommended schedule and whether the first visit costs more.
- Ask about travel, emergency, water, supply, and replacement-part charges.
